Anime Expo 2012: Day 2 in 10 Pictures or Less

Really gotta get crackin' finishing my AX 2012 story before my next event...well my cosplay for day 2 that I made using heat 'n bond and wire was a rebuild of last year's Ika Musume genderbend cosplay using a darker shade of blue and a top that better captures the idea of a genderbend...for some reason I was thinking that it wasn't a genderbend but an imagining of what Squid Girl's dad might look like who sent his idiot daughter out on a fool's errand to invade the surface world...Unlike the previous day's Nabeshin, I got a couple more people asking for my picture, most of it happening when I met up with my meetup group in South Hall (lesson learned, start every day at AX in South Hall if you wanna get people to take your picture...)...

Anime Expo 2012: Days 0-1 in 10 Pictures or Less

I guess before I continue further with my summer, I should finish off my Anime Expo 2012 story with the recap...Instead of 10 pictures or less in a single post, I'm thinking I should allow myself a maximum of 10 for each day despite the fact that I didn't go to as many panels or anime screenings as previous years.  Much of my time was spent in line or waiting for the shuttle, but it was fun meeting with the people I haven't seen in almost a year...

Anime Expo 2012: The Loot in 10 Pictures

I'll eventually get to a AX in 10 pictures post, but for now, enjoy the loot in 10 pictures post...I guess people post this to show what one could get at cons...

I tried to control my spending by paying for everything in cash, but then I went to the NIS America booth, which always has cool stuff with purchase, like figures, books, and CDs...

Anime Expo 2012 - More 3D Pics!

AX2012-3D_A1000_Day1-ANAGLYPH 002

Well, my 3D picture count was much less than what I was able to get up in Anime North.  I guess it's because I spent a lot of time waiting in line or there just wasn't as much 3D worthy cosplay this year outside of cosplay gatherings, except for this Coast Guard sniper I met (he later mentioned that Coast Guard snipers usually work from the air, and the gilly suit was something he got) and what I guess is a Phoenix Wright genderbend cosplay...

Quickpost: Ideas for Future Cosplay Gatherings

I still have a bunch of pics from Anime Expo 2012 to post, but I wanna write down my ideas for future cosplay gatherings.

Angel Beats! (will have a list of pose ideas next time and assume it would take an hour)
Ika Musume (did a genderbend of Ika Musume two years in a row, I just wanna see who shows up)
IdolM@ster (I would be the producer or maybe one of the members of Jupiter, no crossplay on this one)
Schoolgirl (why has no one thought of this!?!?!?)
anohana (I just wanna see if there will a bunch of different t-shirt designs for Jinta cosplayers, I have a bunch of Hawaiian shirts I could use for Poppo)
Nichijou (found Hakase and Nano on day 4, need more)
Baka to Test (would Hideyoshi be cosplayed by a girl or a guy?)

Someone make it happen!

Anime Expo 2012 Angel Beats Gathering (3D Photos Only)

AX2012-3D_SD400_Day3-ANAGLYPH 011

Well I've had some software malfunction on 3D rig v2.0 on day 2 of Anime Expo.  For the Angel Beats! gathering on day 3, I asked my friend to take pictures with 3D rig v1.1 with about 1 minute of instruction.  I think he did a good job.  More practice, and he would be as proficient as me on the rig.

Anime Expo 2012 Angel Beats Gathering (2D Photos Only)

Where am I in the above pic?  Not there...

(If you wanna just get straight to the album, click here.)

On the Anime Expo Forums, I posted a call for an Angel Beats! gathering that I eventually scheduled for day 3 before the LiSA concert.  Prior to the day, there were only six definites and one maybe.  As a result, I thought it would be a quick gathering of everyone in the group and groups of the same character.  I was definitely surprised by the actual turnout and had to be creative as to what to do next and be quick because of the need to get to the concert in time.  This was my favorite pose that was suggested by one of the people taking pictures.

Quickpost: Lessons Learned from Anime Expo 2012...

So I don't forget, the lessons I learned during this year's AX are:

1.  When organizing a cosplay gathering, assume there will be 5 times as many cosplayers who show up than actually had a solid confirmation of attending on any discussion forums.

2.  If the cosplay includes a skirt, carry stuff in a fanny pack so I can carry my wallet.

3.  Pay for everything in cash to control spending.

4.  You're never too old to cosplay or attend an anime convention.

5.  When you crossplay as a schoolgirl, real girls dressed as schoolgirls will want to take pictures with you...

6.  If part of a con meetup group, the GroupMe app will suck your smartphone battery dry.  Use FRS radios instead.

7.  Always have a good story to tell...if watching an anime in a video rooms isn't enough to cure your boredom at con, the open mic panel may be the place to go...

8.  If doing 3D pics, make sure the hack software is stable before using...or carry the backup rig if possible...

9.  Always check the con schedule every morning for possible changes.

10.  I'm older than I look...
